Part 2: Reflective practice journal – Implementing child safe work practices To complete this part of the assessment, you are required to demonstrate skills and complete the associated reflective journals. These observable behaviours are not attached to a specific task, but rather, are about the way that you work with children and families, ensuring these skills are implemented in their daily work practices. Responses should be a minimum of 30 words but no longer than 50 words for each journal entry. You are required to demonstrate the following skills; • Nurturing practices towards children, (such as comforting a child when hurt or during times of separation) • Putting the needs of children first, including attending to them as a priority over conversations that are happening with adults • Respect towards children through employing communication and information-gathering techniques in accordance with current recognised good practice • Allowing children to have a ‘voice’ and make own choices over their environment (such as play choices) • Respecting family diversity and differences in values, such as being non-judgemental towards diverse child rearing practices • Employing ethical and nurturing practices and observed professional boundaries when working with children and young people • Complying with regulations, legislations and duty of care responsibilities • Ensuring decisions and actions taken were within own level of responsibility, work role, state legislation and service policies and procedures The Assessor will confirm with your Workplace Supervisor that you have implemented the skills at the nominated workplace.
