The social service organization I chose was the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.MDHHS is a organization put in place to enhance the health and well-being of all the citizens of Michigan, by providing for effective health and human services and by fostering sound, sustained advances in the sciences underlying medicine, public health, and social services. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is federally funded. This agency is put in place with federal funds to meet the needs of those less fortunate, there are resources and programs provided by this agency. The Water assistance program provides bill payment for eligible low-income residents who have financial burden, water and/or wastewater arrears and disconnects. and in some cases, minor plumbing repair. Households can receive up to $3,000 in bill assistance per fiscal year, and up to $9,000 in metered plumbing repairs. Funding is administered through MDHHS to Community Action Agencies and other non-profit entities until September 30, 2027 unless funding is depleted prior to that date.
