Dear Writer, good evening Please kindly see the Post on the discussion board from Mejesh. Please kindly respond to Mejesh’s post accordingly. Please submit the reference with one APA Reference. Thank you. A healthcare information system comprises various essential components. The components of a system consist of hardware, which encompasses physical devices such as computers and servers; software, which encompasses applications and programs responsible for data processing; data itself, which refers to the information collected and managed by the system; and procedures, which are the rules and guidelines governing the system’s usage. In addition, the system is utilized and overseen by individuals such as healthcare experts and IT personnel. These components collaborate to gather, store, analyze, and disseminate information, facilitating effective and precise decision-making in the field of healthcare. In healthcare IT systems, “accessibility” pertains to the convenience of authorized personnel acquiring and utilizing the necessary information. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) defined access to healthcare “as having timely use of personal health services to achieve the best possible health outcome.” According to The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), “access requires gaining entry into the healthcare system, getting access to sites of care where patients can receive needed services, and finding providers who meet the needs of patients and with whom patients can develop a relationship based on mutual communication and trust.” (Al-Shorbaji, 2021). Timely access to patient data is of utmost importance in healthcare settings as it can directly influence the quality of care delivered. For instance, when a physician can promptly retrieve a patient’s medical history and laboratory findings and present prescriptions using an electronic health record (EHR) system, they can expedite their decision-making process, which is particularly crucial during urgent situations. Nevertheless, it is crucial to balance accessibility and security measures to safeguard critical patient information from unauthorized access. An illustration of this concept is a hospital’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, which allows clinicians to get patient records from any area within the hospital. However, the system mandates using secure login credentials to safeguard the data and restrict access to authorized personnel. This equilibrium guarantees that the appropriate individuals can obtain the necessary information at the appropriate time without jeopardizing the confidentiality of patients.
