Reply to these two discussions 1-Social media

Reply to these two discussions 1-Social media can offer a way to communicate with your provider, this can be a faster more effective way to get a quick solution to your issues at that time. “Another benefit is in the area of research. A growing number of studies describe potential benefits of social media. These studies can be divided into three general areas of research in social media: (1) description of the content on social media sites, (2) the use of social media, and (3) potential use of social networks for research (224).” Social media can also offer a support team for patient to talk about their illness openly without feeling judged. Social media in healthcare can be confusing for some people to understand, especially the older adults. When COVID hit and my grandparents could not go to the doctors I had to go over to their house to help them set up a webcam and a zoom account so they could still see their provider. “Health professionals should be aware of the dangers associated with social media use prior to engaging in its activities. The primary principle influencing the use of social media in healthcare is the obligation to serve the best needs of the public; however, clinicians are bound by laws, practice ethics, and professional codes of conduct governing how and when to use social media applications (225).” With the use of social media it can bring up security issues and people may feel that their appointments are not as private as they used to be 2-Over the years, social media has grown to be a huge part of everyday life. Social media has its goods and its bads, as so does everything else. Specifically, over the last couple years, social media has taken off in healthcare. Social media is full of networking. During Covid-19, social media was a huge benefit and impacted the healthcare as a whole. With visitors being limited and restricted from seeing their loved ones, social media allowed them to keep in touch with one another. Social media has also improved communication amongst provider-to-provider and provider-to-patient. “Social media offers a means of communication between provider and patient that is more personable and can have the unintended consequences of an enhanced patient experience” (Nelson, p. 224). Following this, different social media sites promote different healing strategies for mental and physical health problems. For example, Tik-tok was widely used during the pandemic and is still being widely used. People from all over go on this app and post videos on different things. I have seen many videos that promote different health problems that people face in their daily life. I have seen people posting and sending out awareness for breast cancer, birth control use, gut health, depression, and anxiety. I think this is very beneficial to our society.
