Ethics, health literacy, and cultural competence are all “critical considerations” when working in healthcare or related industries. Ethics are critical. Patients’ rights and autonomy are ethical ideals. This ensures that patients’ rights are protected, including autonomy and informed consent. Ethical practice entails prioritizing patient well-being, privacy, and respect for their values and choices. Professional integrity entails adhering to ethical principles. This preserves the trust and credibility of the healthcare profession. It assists professionals in navigating difficult situations, such as end-of-life decisions or conflicts of interest. Legal implications are also essential. Many ethical difficulties in healthcare are also legal concerns. Understanding and adopting ethical norms can help to avoid legal complications while also protecting both the patient and the practitioner from potential harm. Building trust with patients is critical in the healthcare industry. The examples discussed in this week’s conversation highlight the importance of privacy. It is helpful to know these topics, in order to build a sucessful career. 2) Responded thoughtfully agree or disagree disagree (one paragraph ), reference something that discussed. Why these topics: Ethics, Health Literacy, and Cultural Competence are “critical considerations” for my future career. First, you need ethics because it is the right thing to have and I would be working with people who need help and are very vulnerable. They need to know that they are going to receive the best care I can provide for them and that they can trust me and know that their rights will be protected. Ethics would be my main goal so that my patients/clients would know they are safe talking to me. Health Literacy would be vital so the patient/client would understand what is going on with them and how they can make the right choices about their healthcare. They need the knowledge of knowing what is going on and what the treatment is and how they can respond to the treatment. They need to understand what is going on with them on the inside and how they can be treated for it and how they are going to be treated. Understanding the process can make being treated a lot less stressful. Cultural Competence I would be working with patients/clients from all different backgrounds, cultural’s, and beliefs and I would need to be able to provide them with the best care possible to meet their needs and how they believe. To adapt my treatment plan and the way that I acted so I could help meet those needs. To put aside my feelings and concentrate on them and what they are coming to me for and to let them know I am there to help them. The video I watched in this lesson How I Get Over The Journey to Cultural Competence was a really good video to watch it just let me know that in this career that ethics, health literacy, and cultural competence are very important om treating your patients/clients so you can help them and hopefully gain their trust so they will continue coming back for treatment
