Discussion Steps for Initial/Main and Reply Posts: First, identify a concept that you were unable to fully understand from this week’s readings. Verify by checking the Weekly Discussions that the selected concept has not been covered as a main topic already. If the concept was already covered by a student, select a different (not yet discussed) concept. Second identify two resources that accomplished the goal of deepening your understanding of the concept. Do a library and/or internet search to find at least two credible sources https://libguides.umgc.edu/credibility. (see more suggestions below) In addition to citing at least two credible outside resources, you also need to make at least one connection to the assigned Week 1 learning objectives in your main response. Use in-text citations and full references in APA format. How to write the Main response – guidance Put the name of the chosen topic in the Subject text box. Describe your personal understanding of the concept prior to finding and using the resource and then Describe how the chosen resources deepened your understanding. This should not be simply a re-statement of definitions. Report on how the resources accomplished the goal of explaining the concept in question. How to write replies – guidance Reply to at least two classmates’ posts. Your replies should be substantial and contribute to learning (each about 100-150 words in length). Ask thought-provoking questions, identify areas of improvement, and or add additional information that brings the discussion forward. Cite sources using APA format.
