Why/Why Not? Mr. M is a 90

Why/Why Not? Mr. M is a 90 year-old male who had a coronary bypass surgery three days ago. His epicardial pacing wires have been removed. His postoperative course has been significant for atrial fibrillation, which is new for him. When he is in AF, his BP has been intermittently compromised as his EF is 20%. He has been started on an Amiodarone PO load and continues on his Toprol SR 50 mg po daily. After two days on this combination, he has converted back into sinus rhythm. On his 12 lead EKG this morning, you note the QTc is 550 ms; previously his QTc was 415 ms. He is scheduled to receive his Toprol and Amiodarone. Should you administer these two medications? Why or why not? SCIENCE HEALTH SCIENCE NURSING NURSING 123
