In today’s day and age we have progessed so far in our cultures. We as people always make sure that we are truly equal. And yet in this TedTalk, Dorothy Roberts explains that we still have some racial and cultural issues within our practices. She explains that it is used as a “shortcut”. Are Doctors wrong for using race as a way to understand a patient? In other words, would you allow your doctor to racially or culturally define you as a patient? Another question is how are some ways we can avoid this in medical care? Should we start teaching diversity topics earlier?
