reply to these two discussions 1-Practicing moral courage is very important in nursing field because nurses facing many ethical and moral challenges and they need to deal with moral issues in their daily lives. Nurses must possess moral bravery to be able to deal with the ethical and moral difficulties that arise in nursing practice on a daily basis. Williams described moral anguish as “those internal and external constraints that hinder us from acting in the proper manner, for the proper cause, and at the proper moment” (Williams, 2017). Because the nursing profession has always been connected with the highest standards and laws surrounding moral traditions and ethical performance, codes of ethics help nurses understand their obligations about ethical principles and how to do the right thing at the right time. When caring for their patients, nurses must fulfill these commitments, and they must comprehend and demonstrate moral courage within the bounds of their practice. According to Williams (2017), some studies defined moral bravery as “the ability to take the risk,” which means that morally courageous nurses are constantly prepared and strongly willing to be on the front lines because they believe the outcomes of their activities will be worthwhile. They are aware of the numerous hazards involved, and they experience fear, but they nonetheless proceed with the action because they firmly think that it is the right thing to do. Since they “implanted ethical principles of beneficence, veracity, fidelity, and honor to uphold what is right and just, regardless of the personal consequences,” nurses with moral courage “have an internal strong motivation that encourage them to do what they are going to do regardless of the consequences and risks that surround their actions and interventions” 2-Nursing cannot exist independently of moral/ethical intention and conduct. Therefore, it is the duty of nursing educators to lay a solid moral and ethical foundation for future nurses’ professional conduct. This article discussed the growing need of educational institutions to instill moral and ethical values in their ABSN students. When faced with a choice, moral bravery is the capacity to defend and uphold what one thinks to be ethical, moral action, even if it involves defying countervailing temptation to act differently. Morally courageous people are determined to “do the right thing,” even if it means taking a personal risk like losing their job, being rejected by their peers, or suffering other unfavorable effects. Even if it takes standing up for what is right, one should do so. J.S. Murray stated, “One should stand up for what is right even if it means standing alone The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character.” (Murray, 2019). To have moral courage, it takes a strong moral foundation. This is something I pride myself in. I have always stood for doing what is right, even when it’s not the easy road. I think when starting out in a new profession, this can be even more difficult. Keeping your patient and their needs as the priority and advocating for them will always lead you in the right direction.
