Kaye is the youngest of two sisters. Her mother is a teacher, and her father was a doctor. At the age of 14, Kaye’s father was in a car accident and sustained a mild head injury and lost both his arms. It was a very difficult time for the family and Kaye’s parents frequently argued. Kaye spent quite a bit of her time caring for her Dad but was always cautious as she did not want to upset him and contribute to a decline in his mood or health. She believed that if she worked hard at her studies and pursued a profession that she would please both parents, especially her Dad. She wanted him to be proud. When Kaye was 16 years old, she started dating a young man who went to the same school as her. This dating contributed to conflict between her and her father. Eventually, the boy found another girlfriend. Kaye was angry with her father but did not let him know. She focused her studies. She went on a diet and was happy that she lost weight. After about a year her weighted reduced to 91 lbs. from 130 lbs. Kaye started to fast for long periods, binge eat, purge and engaged in excessive amounts of exercise. She stopped menstruating. Her weight fell to 83 lbs. It is at this point that you as a nurse in the clinic met Kaye when she was brought to the clinic by her mother.
