As president Lyndon Johnson, in order to achieve a “Great Society” Why would you support proposal 5 and 8? Proposal 5 – Tax cut. Many people believe that the best way to help the poor and create jobs is to offer a tax cut in order to help the economy grow. A tax cut will place more money in the hands of consumers and businesses. Consumers will spend more and businesses will hire more co workers, thus reducing unemployment without increasing welfare. The council of economic advisors supports this proposal. Will you support this proposal ? Explain. Proposal 8 – Federal help for low income schools. Currently, local (town or city) and state government would financially assist schools attended by low income students. Better schools will help equalize opportunities for poor students. The department of Health, Education, and Welfare supports this program. Will you support this proposal ? Explain
