G.S. is a 42 year old, white male complaining of intermittent low back pain that radiates to left leg. The patient describes the pain as aching in his back and “sharp or shooting pain down his left leg. Associated symptoms include intermittent numbness and tingling in the left leg. Pain occurs intermittently and is exacerbated by sitting at desk for long periods of time. The pain is slightly relieved by stretching. Use of ibuprofen eases the pain but does not completely relieve symptoms. The patient rates the pain as a 6/10 when it occurs.
