I am presently a psychiatric nurse; I have worked in an inpatient psychiatric unit for 20 years. I always have been a passion for psychiatric nursing. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I will give my skills to help my community in need of psychiatric mental health services. The psychiatric nurse program has given me the knowledge of what is needed to support the individuals I provide care for and me. I have also obtained skills in performing physical exams, prescribing medications, clinical diagnosis and preparing patient charting to promote patient care (Gibson, n.d.). My preceptor has shown me how to diagnose a specific individual and critical thinking in the field.Â
