Descriptive Comparative Data Analysis

From the data collected in the above table Pitt County’ population is 184,243 while the state of North Carolina has a population of 10.67 million compared to the United States 338,308,043. Pitt county consists of a racial diversity of 58.3% whites which is the majority, 36.5% Blacks or African American and the minority groups Hispanic and Asian which are 6.9 and 2.1% respectively, which compared to the State of NC which has a 70.1% white majority, Blacks 22.3% and a 10.2% Hispanic and 3.4% Asian. The Median household income is 49,337 in Pitt County compared to 56,642 in NC and a national average of 64,994 in the United States. People who reside in Pitt County, 89% graduate with a high school degree or higher compared to the national average of 88.5% (Table 5). With regards to language, 7% of Pitt County residents speak another language other than English, 11.8% in NC whereas the national average is 21.5%. Furthermore, persons in poverty reside at 17.1% in Pitt County, 12.9% in NC compared to the average of 11.4 percent in the US.  From the data gathered unemployment and poverty goes hand in hand as 4.6% of Pitt County residents are unemployed, whereas 3.40% in NC and 3.6% throughout the US. (Table 5). Pitt residents that do not have health insurance is 12.3% compared to the US and NC state averages of 12.2% and 12.7% respectively.
