Think about this question – why would we update a policy? Think about Covid, do the procedures keep changing constantly? If this is the case can the policy remain the same all the time, or do we have to review and update accordingly according to the changing guidelines? Also, think about all the different policies that are highlighted in the statutory guidance, yes this is the general guide to what we should do within the childcare setting – but every setting is different, and things happen as well over time – perhaps a major health and safety issue has occurred in the nursery – an example of this could be gates been left open and not monitored and a child wanders out not the main road, then a complaint comes in from a parent – would this also make the setting review and update a policy? What are your thoughts on this?
