You will have the opportunity to be creative while showing your knowledge regarding law and ethics in the MA role.  

 

I want you each to develop a case study that will show a typical day in the office setting for an MA.  I want you to walk through the day but instead of showing how things should go, I want you to show how things shouldn’t go.  You will need to provide FIVE situations each of legal and ethical mistakes that can happen in that setting while performing the duties of an MA. 

 

Example of a portion of the case study:  MA Sarah stopped at the gas station on her way to work at the clinic today.  While there, she saw Mrs. Smith, who she knew had an apt to see the PA today for a rash.  “Hey Mrs. Smith, how’s that itching?  Ya know, when I had a rash, I used the Benadryl cream and it really helped.  Have you tried that yet?  Well, I’m sure the PA will get you all fixed up.  See you in a bit!”
