This is a Scholarly Paper assignment worth 40%. I have attached the required criteria and rubric below. What challenges face the elderly within our(Canadian) health care system? Criteria: A well-planned format including introduction, thesis, analysis, and conclusion as applicable. The paper should include an introduction and a conclusion. An introduction to the topic/issue: What is the topic/issue? Why (and for whom) is it an issue for health/health care – locally, provincially, or nationally? Describe your main argument (thesis) and/or position that will guide your paper and discuss how the topic will be addressed. When analyzing your topic, ensure your analysis is supported with current scholarly literature as applicable. Critically analyze and discuss the implications of your topic on the Canadian health care system, health of Canadians, and to the nursing profession, and provide strategies to address the issue. You may conclude by identifying gaps in knowledge relating to practice, research, and/or policy. In addition to the relevant ideas/references from the textbook, course reading references and professional nursing associations, you are to integrate at least 5 current and well-chosen scholarly references (4 if you are submitting the written and art-based assignment) that are independently located (students are not to share resources). Internet citations, other than on-line, full text journal articles should be kept to a minimum and the majority of your references should be peer-reviewed journals. APA 7th edition format and referencing is required. Suggested Outline for Paper*: Identifies the issue (~1 pg.) Identify topic and clearly explain the issue. Discuss the relevance to the Canadian health care system, health of Canadians and/or to the nursing profession. Background (~1 pg.) Provide background on the issue and its relevance. Clearly articulate topic in the introduction and logically link to Canadian health care system Provide background information that gives context for the analysis. For Canadian Data – see CIHI, StatsCan, ONA, CNA, RNAO policy documents as a starting place. Thesis, stance, or position on issue (~0.5 pg.) Clearly articulate thesis, stance, or position on the issue Identify various stakeholders’ stance and priorities (i.e. nursing, federal government, provincial government, interest groups, patients, etc.) Critical Analysis (~2 pgs.) Discuss and examine points of congruence or divergence What are the gaps? Strategies – what actions have been taken or what actions should be taken? Conclusion/implications to nursing (~1.5 pgs.) Discuss implications to practice, policy, and/or research. What are the next steps? Length: 5 to 6 pages with the absolute maximum for the scholarly paper of 6 typed, double-spaced pages (title page and references are separate). Any papers longer than the maximum length will be subject to a penalty.
