What is a response to this? I plan to use two strategies to achieve professional and academic goals: organization and time management. When a new class starts, I look at the course calendar to grasp when items are due and to review the rubrics. I then can print off the calendar and cross off tasks as I complete them. I also set a reminder in my phone calendar for when items are due such as discussion posts due by Thursday of each week, and two responses are due by Sunday to ensure I am utilizing my time appropriately. According to Laureate Education (2018), Walden University’s Professional Development Plan video supports that writing the student plan out and determining what steps to take will teach them to reach their goal. It will also help the student visualize the path to accomplishing their goals. By creating a professional portfolio, students can reflect on the tasks or skills they have learned and use that information to impact their nursing practice. Doing so can pave the way for engaging students to perform self-assessments and continue professional development planning (Casey & Egan, 2013).
