Write an original thought about an experience you may have encountered with unprofessionalism in the clinical setting or workplace. I have recently encountered an act of unprofessionalism although I do not know how to word it. If you can please make it look better, that would be great. My encounter of unprofessionalism was during my second day of my preceptorship in the behavioral health unit. I was sitting in the nurses’ station waiting for my preceptor to come back from speaking with one of our patients. The psychiatric doctor walks in and asks me if my preceptor was assigned to one of his patients. I told him, “no, that is not our patient; that patient was assigned to a different nurse.” The doctor then proceeded to ask me about a patient’s condition who was assigned to us. I answered the doctor’s question, and he said, “I suppose you don’t know anything about your preceptor’s patients.” Please add more to the story and explain how this could have been better handled. Also, explain how this story demonstrates unprofessionalism as a nursing student.
