George, who is 70-years-old, has had a Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) four weeks ago. Before his CVA, he lived with his wife Betty in their two-bedroom condo. He was very active socially and golfed 3-4 times per week. He also worked 2-days a week at his job as a front desk associate at the local YMCA. Both he and his wife were independent in their ADL’s. George was the driver for the family. Neither of them used any assistive devices other than glasses and handrails in the shower.Â

George is about to start the rehabilitation. Although he appears to have limited cognitive deficits, he remains weak on his right side and will need to use a walker at home. He states, “Walkers are for old people.”Â
