History of Musculoskeletal Problem
Subjective findings
The musculoskeletal problem I experienced included a fifty years old male patient who presented to me complaining of knee pain. The knee pain ached his left knee, which started abruptly three days ago as he was doing his routine strolling. The patient explained that he was walking on wet ground and slipped unexpectedly, nearly falling before he experienced a sharp pain in his two knees. Shortly the right knee disappeared, but the left knee pain persisted. The client is yet to take any pain killer even though the pain is intense. Again the patient has reported no history of allergic reactions, and in the last eight hours, the pain got highly severe, with the affected knee turning mildly red. The patient presents a 6/7 discomfort score, and no bleeding has occurred. He shows no history of surgical operations, and it is warm to touch the affected spot.
Objective findings
On procedural inspection of the patient’s gait, evaluation was not done since the patient experienced extreme discomfort. The crucial joints; the knee, hip, and ankle, were intact, although the patient’s range of motion was generally reduced. The reduced range of motion presented primarily at the knee of the affected left leg due to the grimacing effect (Huang et al., 2020). After examination of the affected leg’s medial aspect, there were slightly non-pitting erythema and edema. The affected spot skin was sticky by touching.
Risk factors findings
The patient is generally stable and has no allergies or daily medication. The patient may need surgical operations to correct the injury suspected in the affected knee; a reduced activity or exercise is also necessary to allow quick recovery (Huang et al., 2020). He, therefore, risks the development of vein thrombosis in the future due to the reduced exercise. The patient also risks sustaining other injuries due to the tendency to compensate for the knee damages while walking. The patient is limping, which risks inflicting pains in other joints, thus impairing his gait.
