Willow is a 23 year old female admitted to the Emergency Department. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus 8 years ago and has been managing fairly well until a recent illness.  For the past 72 hours, she has experienced  diffuse abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Additionally, he has had significantly decreased appetite for the past 4 days.Â
She stopped taking his insulin 72 hours ago due to symptoms of anorexia and vomiting. Willow was stabilized in the ER before being transferred to the medical unit. She currently has an IV Insulin drip infusing a 3 units/hour.Â
